BBC Proms: "Celebrating John Williams" in diretta su Radio 3 Rai
Questa sera Giovedì 20 Luglio alle 20:30, all'interno del "Cartellone" della trasmissione Radio3 Suite su Rai Radio3, diretta dai BBC Proms di Londra per il concerto Celebrating John Williams, un tributo al grande compositore americano diretto da Keith Lockhart con la BBC Concert Orchestra.
Anche quest'anno i leggendari BBC Proms - la lunga serie di concerti estivi di musica classica che si tengono alla Royal Albert Hall di Londra - dedica un intero concerto alla musica del cinema: sul podio salirà questa sera Giovedì 20 Luglio alle 20.30 ora italiana il direttore d'orchestra statunitense Keith Lockhart (direttore musicale della Boston Pops Orchestra) per eseguire con la BBC Concert Orchestra un programma intitolato Celebrating John Williams, un ampio ed articolato tributo alla musica del geniale compositore americano nell'anno del suo ottantacinquesimo compleanno.
Come già accaduto a Boston nella stagione dei Pops di quest'anno, Lockhart proporrà al pubblico inglese una vera e propria galoppata sinfonica con una selezione di brani dalle più celebri colonne sonore composte da Williams (da Star Wars a Indiana Jones, passando per Lo squalo e Harry Potter), ma troveranno spazio anche pagine meno note al grande pubblico come le selezioni da Memorie di una geisha, Amistad e Goodbye Mr. Chips. Insieme al direttore, ci saranno sul palco i solisti Jamal Aliyev (violoncello), Annelien Van Wauwe (clarinetto), Jess Gillam (sax contralto).
E per il pubblico italiano una grande notizia: il concerto verrà trasmesso in diretta questa sera alle 20.30 (ora italiana) su Rai Radio3, all'interno della trasmissione Radio3 Suite, nell'abituale "Cartellone" dedicato ai concerti di musica dal vivo trasmessi nell'ottimo programma.

Winner of five Academy Awards, 22 Grammy Awards and seven BAFTAs, John Williams is among the greatest of film composers. His scores for Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and the Indiana Jones films have made him a household name.
The BBC Proms celebrates his extraordinary achievements in a concert to mark Williams's 85th birthday. Keith Lockhart - a long-time colleague of Williams at the Boston Pops Orchestra - conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra in an evening featuring excerpts from the composer's best-loved scores, as well as some lesser-known gems.
